Jobfox Scam Policy is an Example of Honesty in a World filled with Scam Job Sites

From Rob McGovern, Jobfox CEO
I founded Jobfox to give job seekers a better way to find a job. It’s a difficult economy, and job seekers are frustrated by the lack of jobs and feedback from employers. Unfortunately, the tough economy has also brought out the scam sites that don’t share the same goals as Jobfox. We are committed to helping people get hired, despite the difficult job market conditions.
I helped create the online jobs industry when I founded CareerBuilder in 1994. Since then the market has evolved from simplistic sites to a new generation of job sites. Jobfox is the most innovative of this new generation. We pioneered sophisticated matching technology, which matches jobs and job seekers based on automated matching algorithms. Some people say we’re like the eHarmony of jobs. Rather than showing job seekers a random list of jobs with a keyword, we guide job seekers to the jobs where they would be a good fit. This greatly increases the odds a job seeker will get called for an interview.
Employers like sourcing candidates on Jobfox, because we guide them to the best candidates. In this way, Jobfox is like a matchmaker. Job seekers see more relevant jobs, and employers see more qualified candidates. It’s important to note that we aren’t screening candidates. Rather, we are guiding candidates to the jobs where he or she would be a great fit. You wouldn’t want a car site leading you to cars outside of your budget, and you don’t want to waste time on jobs where you aren’t a good fit. You also don't want to be mislead by fraudulent posts, and the Jobfox scam policy strives to block rip-off job listings from our site.
Our matching technology is just the beginning of what makes Jobfox special. We also run the largest resume writing service in the country. Our resume service helps our job seekers present themselves in better ways, improving the chance of being hired. In a typical month we are helping more than 100,000 job seekers improve their resume. Our improvements include both cosmetic changes, to make the document more attractive, but also semantic changes which will help the resume be found in corporate resume systems. The majority of companies use resume database systems and it’s important for resumes to be “findable” in these systems. We’re long past the day of simply adding a block of keywords to your resume.
Recently Jobfox released Break Through, our new premium job seeker service. It helps job seekers conduct a more sophisticated job search, greatly increasing his or her odds. With Break Through a job seeker has access to over 1 million jobs, which is far greater than the typical job site. It also searches over 22,000 company web sites everyday, giving job seekers direct access to jobs direct from the employer. Only 15% of jobs are posted on job sites, so Break Through increases the number of jobs by more than 6X. Break Through’s “About Me” feature helps a job seeker build a career web site about him or herself. The Facebook and LinkedIn capabilities allow job seekers to see their connections to over 1 Million jobs.
Occasionally people ask me if Jobfox is “one of those scam job sites”. Nothing could be further from the truth. We have over 10 Million members of our service, and we have never once scammed a user. Our reputation is our most important asset, and we work hard to keep our users delighted with our service. I’m constantly receiving emails from job seekers saying how we helped them get hired. People tell me they love our matching service, or how much they appreciate us rewriting his or her resume. And, it makes my day when someone says that Break Through helped her find a job directly on an employer’s home page. It’s a tough job market, but we’re here to help job seekers get hired with better tools.

Jobfox is committed to keeping ripoff and scam listings out of its job search matching recommendations. If you've spent time on any other job boards out there, you'll see plenty of 'work from home' scams and 'earn your bachelors degree 2 months' frauds. Jobfox goes to great lengths to keep those out of the matching algorithm. They feel that by having the most legitimate, clean job listings, that they will stand out from all of the other sites who have listings that could contain false or fake scam listings.

Great info. I use Jobfox as my primary job search engine. There is just too much scam and fraud stuff on those bigger boards. I think that they are too big to be able to monitor all of that stuff. The jobfox scam policy ensures I'm able to avoid all the bad/fake stuff, and just focus on finding a job
Great article, so glad to find another useful job hunting website. It seems like all the other boards are overloaded with junk, spam, and scams. I much prefer the smaller, more intimate feel of these job boards that care about there listings and their users.
Hi, I'm curious what you think of some of the other small job search sites I've looked at like Climber, The Ladders, Indeed, Dice, and some others. Do you think they are good and have good intentions? I've signed up for Jobfox but haven't used them yet, I'll give it a look and see.
Wow - what happy employees! Makes you think that its a great place to work when all of the employees contribute to such a good cause. And for the workplace to get behind it and sponsor it is awesome.
cool hub about job fox - seems like a neat company to work for. do they offer jobs? why is it about scams? ok thank you for this posting
I used that site to get a job a while back. That company ended up having some layoffs, so I'm definitely using Jobfox again to get my next job. I like how they match you up with potential employers like eHarmony. I also use Breakthrough - pretty dang cool product.
Nice details on this Jobfox site. Never heard of them, but I'm definitely interested in it. I Have a bunch of friends who are desperately searching for jobs and I'd hate for them to fall victim to some of the scam things you've talked about. I hate fraudulent stuff!
hey everybody i really need a job so i need to know how to create a resume. please let me know if there is a page i can learn about that on
what a cool pic of the Jobfox employees that donated!
pretty neat post about those employees. who knew jobfox people were such givers
I have pretty much given up on searching for jobs online. I searched on Career Builder, Dice, Monster, Indeed and pretty much every other site I could find. All I kept running across was old job listings, scam stuff, fraudulent work from home jobs that should pretty much be illegal, etc. Can you see why I stopped searching for jobs online? Well.... now u have me rethinking things if this Jobfox site actually fights these scam listings instead of encouraging as it seems the other sites do. I'll do a little bit of research to find out what I can about the site and I'll repost it here
This post is a little bit sillllly. I think I might actually get out of my box and try another job site besides Monster when I get fired from my current gig (which is only a matter of time).
This is a pretty cool way to hunt a job down. It seems different than normal job boards. It seems like the rules for jobfox scam is a good way to block fraud.
very interesting approach they have taken here. I like it. Please post more details about them when you have an opportunity, I'm certainly interested in here the rest of the story.
Very cool... There is a Jobfox building right down the street from me and I always wondered what they did. I did some digging and found your article. Seems like a great group of people they've got there, with obviously a good ceo an interesting story leading the way.
If a scam makes its way onto the Jobfox website, is there a way to report a scam listing? I'm curious if they crowd source this, or if they have internal people reviewing, or if they have some systematic and algorithmic way to identify these scams? I assume some would be pretty easy to catch with system rules, but other fraudulent activities, ripoffs, and internet scams may be pretty hard to identify.
I just answered the poll. I setup a profile on Jobfox and also created a profile to share with other people!
Can someone tell me where I can find more information on Jobfox? My cousin has used them, and loved the experience and success he has had.
This is a really good writeup, interesting to see a piece like this written from the CEO. its impressive how he started careerbuilder, sold it, and then was allowed to start another job company! Jobfox seems like a pretty impressive idea.
Really good article. I cannot wait to hear more concerning this great company. Can anyone tell me where they are located?
@Reese, I think they are based out of Washington, DC but they have a lot of offices all over the country. They work with both job seekers and employers, and I think the office for job seekers is based in DC but all handled online. For the employers, I think they can connect with Jobfox throughout the country.
On any note, I think they probably would just want contacts through their website and phone.
Love the Video! Sweet!
Great contribution to the scam and fraud hunting community. This seems to be a case of false-positives, where some people may not agree with certain business practices, but it can hardly be considered a scam. Ripoff report is also a great source of information on people with problems. On that site you can see there are also a lot of honest companies who have upset customers throwing the book at them.
Great pic - its awesome that Jobfox had that many employees willing to donate. Seems like a good bunch of people helping others find jobs.
I think what you've put together is really cool. To go from building CareerBuilder to another successful job site must be a really tough challenge, especially considering that CB and Monster are household names now. Are you all planning on advertising this anti-scam campaign? I can see how doing this would make you look better than all the competitors who have false job listings and fake degree programs listed.
Thats an amazing success story. Starting 2 huge internet companies, amazing. As they say: Once you're lucky, twice you're good. Congratulations and I hope Jobfox is as big of a success as CareerBuilder!
Great writeup about the company from the CEO perspective. You don't see that very often!
I'm a big time Jobfox user. I signed up for their service a while back, created a custom profile, and have been advertising the heck out of it. I think employers really do think its professional
I am also a Jobfox user, and I have been so many compliments from HR departments on the way my resume and profile has been set up! Thank you Jobfox! I give you 5 stars out of 5.
Love the story, very inspirational!
I agree very inspirational. I am pumped to find another job!
What is with all of these different websites about Jobfox scam? It must be a really good program to garner such a large amount of interest in it. I hadn't heard of the company until I started to do this research, but to me it seems like they really are a good company that offers a strong product to counter the scam artists and ripoffs that run rampant on the world wide web.
I think, like with any company with lots of customers, some people tend to get mad or jealous at them, even if there really isn't a problem. I have yet to find a person who has paid money to Jobfox that hasn't been happy... still looking. It seems like everyone who uses their services ends up being really happy. Seems like a good deal to me, I Think
I really like what I am seeing out of this company. It seems like they've built a lot of research and analytical tools into their product to ensure cross-compatibility between both the job seeker and employer. This, I deduce, will result in a high level of satisfaction from the hiring process on both ends; a true win-win-win scenario where the employer, employee, and Jobfox all make out in the end.
Pretty cool website. I saw that they just announced 'Boost' also - that should be an interesting product, this company is certainly trying to disrupt the established job space online, and I like that
I can attest to how useful this site is. I recently went through a phase where I was without a job and I used this website to get back on my feet, it was great
I really like that new Jobfox product. Twitter went crazy on Friday with the announcement, so I checked it out. as an HR professional for over 6 years, I can really see this as a useful tool in our recruitment departments processes. As this product matures, I can see us using this to deter scam applicants and problems, and getting right at good candidates with trustworthy referrals
I knew Jobfox was for real! I don't know why everyone was saying it is a scam. I have heard good things about the founder.
Wow - lots of interest in the Jobfox topic. Great story, and even better jobfox scam policy. no doubt it will be successful
Thank you! That is all I need to say.
Yeah! Shorty! I love the jobfox scam policy also. It has touched my life.
Jobfox was honest with me! I would use them again in a heartbeat!
This is unbelievable - Jobfox really has a cool way to match people with jobs that filters out scam content at the same time. This is really a game changer for those seeking new employment. count me in
Scam Free? Thats all I needed to know. I will check them out right now.
Sweet! Website! Love the topic! I want more information.

Thanks for sharing the information. I did not know about Break Through and how it helps individuals find jobs and have access to over 1 million jobs. Its helpful to know that there are companies that have policies like that of JobFox scam prevention policy. Making sure only real legitimate companies are listed!
I really don't understand how fraudulent organizations can even come into existence.
